unoccupied robots linked by a group of cables to an operator aboard a ship
Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)
underwater robots that operate without a pilot or cable to a ship or submersible.
AUVs AUVs are commonly related to the Exploration Rover NASA uses on Mars. It is completely remarkable to have two similar instruments that are each made for different purposes; Outer Space, and Underwater. AUVs operate independently of humans. They use their sensors to create maps of the ocean floor, record environmental information, and sense what humans have left behind. AUVs are also capable of locating mines that are beneath the Ocean's surface. AUVs can locate, classify, and neutralize underwater mines.
